Barboursville Vineyards is a truly unique venue for a wedding - located just 16 miles north of Charlottesville. At Barboursville, complementary Italian and regional American design elements culminate in visually stimulating, elegant yet comfortable spaces. In addition, the winery, tasting room and restaurant also feature commanding views of the vineyard, the ruins of the James Barbour mansion, and the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.

Barboursville Vineyards - Facilities

  • The Tasting Room and Arcades - Influenced by the design of the cantinas of Tuscany, this room features keystone arches, white stucco walls and imported terra cotta tile. The vaulted ceiling is finished in yellow pine supported by antique, hand hewn doweled trusses forged from Piedmont timber. 120 people for a seated dinner and 250 for a standing reception. The arcade can accommodate up to 100 for a seated dinner, or 150 for a standing reception.
  • The Ruins of the James Barbour Mansion - Located within a 5 minute walk of the winery is the Barboursville Ruins a Virginia Historic Landmark. It is the remains of the mansion owned by Governor James Barbour designed by Thomas Jefferson, ruined by fire on Christmas Day, 1884. A large lawn bordered by 200-year-old American boxwood surrounds the ruins. Suitable for wedding ceremony.
  • The Racetrack Infield - adjacent to the ruins is the area used by Governor Barbour for his favorite pastime, horse racing. This large well maintained field is suitable for ceremony and reception.
  • Palladio Restaurant - Designed in the style of the Trattorie and Ristoranti of northern Italy, the 40 seat main dining room features antique oak beams, wood-burning fireplace and terra cotta tile. The adjoining 24-seat arcade allows guests an opportunity to view the kitchen as well as the surrounding estate. A comfortable and casually elegant atmosphere prevails in both dining spaces.
The restaurant features the foods of northern Italy, each dish prepared creatively, to simply emphasize the basic inherent flavor of the prominent ingredient at its peak. A state of the art kitchen allows for each catering menu to be individually created to feature any cuisine, designed for the individual needs of each client.
